Student Life
Fourth grade had an exciting opportunity to begin the school year! They were invited by General Electric to participate in a field day of sorts at city hall. General Electric was helping other community health organizations kick off a newly available health program.
They were promoting it by engaging school children in different health activities. SBCS was the only school invited to participate. Students participated in games and activities such as stretches, sit-ups, push-ups, reading food-labels and learning about serving sizes. The fourth graders represented our school well and made us proud.
Representative Elijah Cummings and Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake were there too. The students were lucky enough to take a picture with the mayor and had the opportunity to shake her hand or give her a hug! “I shook her hand, but I wish I’d hugged her,” said 4th grader Scott, “She’s the mayor – it was an honor to be in her presence!”
