Dear New and Returning Families:

The SBCS PTO for the 2011-2012 school year would like to say welcome. We hope you have enjoyed the summer break and are looking forward to the upcoming school year. We are also writing to invite you to join us this year as we continue our mission of supporting our SBCS students and school community. We provide this support through various events and activities. A sampling of some of the events and activities that the SBCS PTO has sponsored in prior school years are school-wide fundraisers, talent shows, and dances. Our parents have also assisted with the coordination of parent workshops and travel to Annapolis, to join with other schools in the fight against cuts to the budget for Baltimore City public schools. These types of events and activities support our students and help strengthen our school community.

We hold a general meeting on the first Wednesday of every month to discuss topics relevant to our school and plan specific events. We know that everyone’s schedule may not allow attendance at these monthly meetings, but our students and school will benefit from your support on any level. Please keep in mind, whatever your availability, interests and/or talents, we would love your participation.

During the first week of school, the PTO will have information tables set up during morning drop off and afternoon pick-up. Please stop by to say hello and share your ideas for the upcoming school year. You can also send your contact information and ideas directly to the SBCS PTO Secretary at sbcspto@gmail.com. During the year, check this section for information about upcoming PTO events. Finally, keep your eye out for information and details for a PTO sponsored family fun event during the first month of school.
