Kindergarten, first and second grade had lots of fun during Elementary Fun Day
Third grade spent the day at the Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center on the Eastern Shore.
Mr. Rodrigo's class traveled to the Inner Harbor to register voters!
The SBCS BICO Bike Club hosted its final event on Friday and despite almost an inch of rain, youth still found a way to be productive. 15 bicycles repaired, 22 adults and youth smiling and learning, 24 hot dogs eaten, and at least 200 laps ridden around the gym.
On Friday May 11th the BICO Club traveled to Gunpowder Falls for a canoe trip. This was the third in a series of water/canoe outings to help students increase their comfort on the water and build skills. Canoeing on a river was different from previous adventures because the current, or downstream movement of the water, caused the boat to move even if no one was paddling!
First through fourth graders were fortunate to learn traditional American dances and songs and have the experience of holding a fiddle when fiddler Steve Hickman came to SBCS. Ms. DeLaura assisted by calling the dances.
First graders watched chicks hatch and then got to interact with the days' old chicks!
